Be thrilled by the raucous street life in Saigon and Hanoi, and enchanted by the history and peace in Hoi An and Hue, then unwind on the banks of the Mekong in Vientiane and Luang Prabang. All this is set against a stunning backdrop of sweeping mountains, verdant fields and sparkling bays.
Days 1-3: Saigon & Mekong delta
On arrival in Saigon, transfer to your hotel. Bond with your small group of fellow travellers and tour leader at a tour briefing and welcome drinks. Gain insight into the resilience of the Vietnamese people as you investigate the amazing Cu Chi tunnels before wandering along the city’s historic Dong Khoi Street, the former Rue Catinat, and stop to explore the War Remnants Museum. Wind your way through the canals of the Mekong Delta sampling fruit from local orchards.
Days 4-6: Hue & Hoi an
Fly north to Hue, the former imperial capital and a window into Vietnam’s complex past. Delve into the ancient Citadel, an elaborate emperor’s tomb and the tranquil Thien Mu Pagoda. At the Spiral Foundation, meet the deaf and mute workers as they guide you to make your own souvenir. Witness the lovely countryside and spectacular coastal scenery on your way to Hoi An. A living monument to Vietnam’s rich history, this charming town boasts traditional houses and temples and the iconic Japanese Bridge. Enjoy some free time in Hoi An for shopping and further exploration.

Days 7-9: Halong Bay & Hanoi
Fly from Danang to Haiphong. Relax as you watch farmers working their land on the drive to enchanting Halong Bay for an overnight cruise. Enjoy the freshest seafood while you cruise amongst the thousands of limestone islands. Continue on to Hanoi, and enjoy a delightful water puppet performance. Visit the ancient Temple of Literature and ai???Hanoi Hilton’ prison before a farewell dinner with your fellow travellers.

Days 10-11: Vientiane
Fly to Vientiane. The country’s charming capital is full of alluring monuments with a laid-back riverside ambience. Taste traditional Lao coffee at a local coffee shop in the morning, and then explore some of the city’s most famous landmarks, such as WatSisaket, WatPha That Luang and Patuxai. Discover the art of Lao silk weaving during your visit to a fair trade weaving workshop. In the late afternoon, receive a unique welcome in a traditional Lao Baci ceremony in a local home.
Days 12-15: Luang Prabang & Pak Ou Caves
A short flight brings you to the fabled riverside town of Luang Prabang. Tour beautiful Wat Mai and an interesting ethnology centre, before taking part in a fun Lao cooking class. Savor a traditional Lao breakfast and French coffee at one of our favourite local eateries, before exploring the town’s famous sites on foot. A lovely boat trip to Pak Ou Caves unveils innumerable Buddha sculptures spanning many centuries. Return to Luang Prabang after a picnic lunch, and head to WatChompet on a little-visited hilltop for beautiful views of Luang Prabang. Rise early to witness the breathtaking ancient ritual of local monks collecting alms at dawn, have free time for independent exploring, behold the beautiful Kuang Si Falls, and play a game of petanque with the locals. Enjoy a farewell dinner with your fellow group members. On your last day, spend time at leisure until your departure transfer.
